Biography
Adam C. Powell is a part-time lecturer at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. He earned his bachelor's in management science and writing from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and both his doctorate and master's in health care management and economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. At Northeastern, he teaches students in the health informatics graduate program, and serves on the visiting faculty of the Indian School of Business, where he teaches a post-graduate course on health IT.
Powell is the founder and president of Payer+Provider Syndicate, a management advisory and operational consulting firm focused on the managed care and healthcare delivery industries. As a healthcare economist, Powell’s specialty is using quantitative techniques to examine issues concerning technology, operations, and firm decision making. He publishes research on healthcare quality as it applies to mobile health and high-cost interventions, as well as assessments of the performances of quality improvement programs in high-cost areas of medicine, such as cardiology, oncology, and radiology.
Outside of his consulting and academic work, Powell serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR): Mental Health and on the Scientific Advisory Board of PsyberGuide. He has been featured in more than 150 articles from outlets including JAMA, CNN, Forbes, Fox, and Seeking Alpha.
Powell grew up in Chicago.
