Biography

Changming Liu is a computer science doctoral student at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences, advised by Long Lu. He is interested in software and computer system security. Specifically, the root cause of the vulnerabilities in current computer systems even if the software is carefully designed, and why it's so hard to eliminate these vulnerabilities.

During his academic career at Northeastern, he has applied both static and dynamic methods to detecting concurrency bugs in user space programs. Changming also has experience with privacy-preserving computing namely, applying homomorphic encryption to make popular multi-media applications, like JPEG, preserve privacy. Through his work, he would like to push the boundaries of current state-of-the-art vulnerability detection methods while catching up with current advanced vulnerability mitigation techniques. Going forward, Changming would like to become a research professor or a researcher, to continue working with interesting security issues.
