Biography
Claire Wassinger is an associate director of program development and undergraduate student engagement at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. She received bachelor’s degrees in English and English Education from Boston University. While completing her master’s in educational leadership and policy studies at Boston University, Wassinger worked in the English department as the undergraduate coordinator, working closely with undergraduate majors and minors as well as department faculty concerning academic scheduling, registration, and graduation matters.
In her current role at Northeastern, Wassinger oversees and supports the development, implementation, and assessment of Khoury College advising services. She works with academic advisors and the advising leadership team to ensure our services align with Khoury College advising team’s mission of partnering with students to assist them with successfully navigating the college experience. As a facilitator for CS 1200, Wassinger works closely with first-year students to facilitate network development, promote the use of appropriate campus resources, and assist them with academic and personal goal setting. She enjoys working with students in an advisor and facilitator role while also supporting the Khoury College advising team as they uphold our student-centered advising practices.
Wassinger believes computer science is invaluable to all fields. She is amazed by the number of combined majors that have been created at Khoury College so students can explore their passions in relation to other academic interests. It is exciting to see students connecting their computer science skills to non-traditional fields. She also values Khoury College’s mission of making computer science an inclusive space for all students who have been historically underrepresented within it.
