Biography
Sakib Miazi is an assistant teaching professor at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. Before joining Khoury College in 2021, Miazi taught several undergraduate- and graduate-level computing courses, first in his native Bangladesh, then at the University of North Carolina Charlotte, and finally at Davidson College. During his time in Charlotte, he won the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award from the College of Computing and Informatics.
At Khoury College, he teaches cybersecurity, networks, and distributed systems.
In his usable privacy and security research, Miazi uses mixed methods to understand how users make their privacy decisions in pervasive settings. He designs and develops privacy-preserving tools and frameworks for ubiquitous technologies. Miazi also researches ways of making cybersecurity education accessible and usable to those outside of the tech field. He presented a paper at IFIP INTERACT 2021 and won honorable mention at the 2018 International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia.
